3 Steps I’m taking to Boost My Confidence
Starting this blog was the accountability I needed to boost my confidence. I knew if I threw myself in at the deep end, I would have to improve my writing skills, learn how to run a business, and tackle the areas I lacked confidence in.
At the end of the day, how can I tell you I will help you boost your confidence when I haven’t boosted mine.
Growing up, I was the shy girl that wouldn’t put her hand up in class. I was the shy girl that sat down at parties and the shy girl that let life pass her by. But not anymore!
Blossom means becoming confident, successful, and attractive. The only way I knew I would achieve this was by developing a strategy that works for me.
Below are three steps that I am currently following.
Step 1: I wrote down all the areas where I lacked confidence and answered a few questions
When I decided to start this confidence-boosting challenge, the first things I did was:
- Write down all the areas where I lack confidence.
- The reasons I lack confidence.
- I answered this question: If I work on this area, what effect would it have on my life?

After completing this task, I decided which areas I needed to address first, leading me to my next step.
Step 2: I chose five from the list I wanted to tackle first
This step was difficult as I wanted to tackle them all, but I had to be realistic and ask myself which ones would make me happier if I achieved them within the next three months? And will I have the time to work on them? I’m a single mother, so I had to take that into consideration. In the past, I have taken on too many tasks and set unrealistic deadlines resulting in me becoming frustrated and deflated.
So, once I deliberated which of the five areas where I wanted to boost my confidence, I wrote them down on a mind map as I found this form more colourful, creative, and easier to update.
What I did
- Inside the boxes, I wrote down the areas I wanted to change.
- Outside of the boxes, I wrote down how.

Step 3: Take Action
This is probably the most challenging step of them all. We all want change, but that will ‘only’ happen once we act. I believe in writing your goals and plans down on paper, but if you don’t take the necessary ‘physical’ steps to boost your confidence, you will remain stagnant.
Dr Ivan Joseph did a TEDx Talk called The Skills of Self Confidence, with over 24 million views. In this video, he highlights the importance of practising a skill or task to the point where you’re confident.
One of the areas I’m working on is my writing skills. I eventually would like to write a book, write some articles, and write on social media outlets. However, I lack confidence in these areas, so I knew that I would have to spend several hours improving my skills.
With that in mind, using my mind map, I wrote down what tasks I would complete to make this happen and acted.
Have you ever taken steps to boost your confidence? Were you successful?
